Inside the Raslan Trial: The Survivors are the Heroes of this Trial

SJAC’s 55th trial monitoring report details day 107 of the trial of Anwar Raslan in Koblenz – the first day for Plaintiffs and Counsel to deliver their closing statements. The plaintiffs each stressed the importance of this trial for them individually and for the entirety of Syrian society. The Counsel demanded a life sentence and the finding of particular severity of guilt for Raslan. They argued that, while the trial was an important first step toward justice and accountability and for addressing crimes against humanity committed in Syria, there is still room for improvement.
