Inside the Raslan Trial: Incidents or a Revolution?

SJAC’s 42nd trial monitoring report details days 84 & 85 of the trial of Anwar Raslan in Koblenz. On the first day, a Syrian women described the special treatment she was given while detained in Al-Khatib by being permitted to go home every few days. Yet, she was tortured as if it was a game. On the second day, Raslan’s son-in-law testified about Raslan’s intentions to defect in 2011 and the family’s experiences. His testimony was called into question for naming a different person helping Raslan defect. He appealed to the witnesses that Raslan was innocent until proven guilty, citing social media posts calling for harm to Raslan’s family.
