Al-Ahram - Drowning refugees: How European and Arab States failed Syrian people

After a photo of three-year-old Syrian Aylan Kurdi washed up on a Turkish beach went viral, Mariam Mecky and Alia Soliman report on the international outrage to the plight of Syrian refugees and the efforts being made by European and Arab governments to aid the Syrian people.

Syria Justice and Accountability Centre (SJAC) Executive Director Mohammad Al Abdallah explains how new efforts by European governments to address the refugee crisis are too little too late. “The recent measures are very late to start today after four and a half years of the conflict in Syria,” says Al Abdallah.
