Inside the Raslan Trial: Corpses as Chattel and Raslan’s Photographic Memory

SJAC’s fifteenth trial monitoring report details days 35, 36, and 37 of the trial. On the first two days, two cousins described the search for their missing family member who was detained in Branch 251. On the third day, Christoph Reuter, a well-known German journalist and expert on Syria and the MENA region testified on the overall situation in Syria in 2011 and 2012 as well as Syrian history from the 1980s. He also spoke about two meetings with Raslan, describing him as someone with a “photographic memory” adding that he cannot imagine that Raslan did not know about what was going on in Branch 251 unless he willingly closed his eyes.
