Inside the Raslan Trial: Closing Statements in the Al-Gharib Trial
SJAC’s 27th trial monitoring report details days 60 & 61 of the trial of Anwar Raslan and Eyad Al-Gharib. The trial was severed on day 60. In their closing statement for the Al-Gharib trial, the prosecutors put the charges in context of the widespread and systematic attack by the Syrian government & requested 5.5 years imprisonment. The prosecution and defense thanked all survivors and insiders for testifying and condemned the government’s systematic and widespread attack. The defense first requested 2 years on parole, before calling for an acquittal based on the defense of duress.
