Inside the Raslan Trial: An Invitation to Coffee at Al Khatib

SJAC’s 31st trial monitoring report details day 66 of the trial of Anwar Raslan. Although the judges offered protective measures, legal counselling, and moral support, the witness decided not to testify in court. Her testimony was introduced by a German inspector who previously interviewed her. He told the court how she identified Raslan in a photo array as a senior officer in Al-Khatib and explained to him that Raslan tried to help her but was nevertheless aware of the crimes committed at the Branch and played an active role. Her identification of Raslan was not directly examined as she did not appear in court.
