Inside the Raslan Trial: A Clear-eyed view of Al-Khatib

SJAC’s 24th trial monitoring report details days 55 and 56 of the trial of Anwar Raslan and Eyad Al-Gharib in Koblenz, Germany. The testimony of the first witness, who was detained in Branch 251 twice, corroborated previous witness statements about constant torture, overcrowded cells, insufficient nutritional, and hygienic conditions at Al-Khatib. He further described in detail how people temporarily “went crazy” in detention. On the second day, several exhibits in Al-Gharib’s case were inspected in court, amongst them Al-Gharib’s statement of regret that he wrote after seeing the forensic analysis of the Caesar files.
